Hey everybody! Thanks for coming to our wedding blog!
If you’re on this site, that means by now you’ve probably heard about our engagement! Although, I’m sure you’d like to know a little bit more about how Tom and Violet became, well, “Tom and Violet”.
It all started a year ago, yes Mom and Dad, only a year ago. We met at a New Years Eve costume party. She looked a lot like Princess Diana. I was Super Bunny; a character of my creation. Anyway, I saw her across the hall; we made eye contact and next thing I knew we were chatting it up. I think she was a little creeped out by me at first. I’ll admit, the bunny suit was a little frightening. But soon, we were alone on the balcony and engaged in a very deep conversation. We shared our first kiss at midnight of the new year (aww), I got her number (thankfully it was her real one) and the rest, as they say, is history.
When the day came to my proposal, I was very nervous. I had spent a long time decking out the balcony at the restaurant I work at. Christmas lights and everything. We got there, sat down, and I put on our song on the radio (Sweet Thing by Van Morrison on the album Astral Weeks if anyone’s wondering.)
Side note: Astral Weeks is a great album. Seriously. When people think of Van Morrison they always think of “Brown Eyed Girl,” which is a great song, don’t get me wrong, but not representative of his entire canon. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you haven’t heard Astral Weeks listen to it. It’ll change your whole outlook on the concept of music. If you HAVE heard it, then… I KNOW, right?!?!?
And we can’t wait to get married!
